10 Rupiah

The Residency of Aceh issued its own emergency currency during the Indonesian National Revolution, when the newly proclaimed Republic was under sustained Dutch military and naval pressure and normal banking infrastructure had collapsed across much of the archipelago. These regional emergency notes — darurat issues — were produced by local Republican administrations operating with whatever printing resources they could access, which explains the considerable variation in paper quality and print execution across the Aceh series.

Koetaradja (now Banda Aceh) served as the administrative center of the residency. Pick lists 283A through 283C as distinct varieties within the 10 Rupiah denomination, differentiated by serial number format and minor typographic differences rather than substantive redesign.
