| Additional information |
The Inter-Parliamentary Union, founded in 1889, is the oldest international parliamentary organization in existence. India hosted the 90th IPU Conference in New Delhi in 1993, and this commemorative was struck to mark the occasion — one of a long series of Indian commemoratives from the 1980s and 1990s that used the heavy copper-nickel 39mm format almost exclusively for such institutional events. Mintage was split between the Bombay and Calcutta mints, with Bombay pieces carrying a diamond mint mark and Calcutta pieces left unmarked.
