Obverse description The Ashoka Lion Capital, the national emblem of India, is depicted at centre within the copper-nickel inner disc, with four lions atop the abacus and the Dharma Chakra flanked by animals in relief below. The motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') appears in Devanagari script beneath the emblem. The numeral '10' is inscribed in large format at the base of the centre disc, with 'RUPEES' continuing into the aluminium bronze outer ring to the right.
