Additional information

The India-Africa Forum Summit was established in 2008 as New Delhi's most ambitious diplomatic push into the African continent, modeled loosely on China's Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The third summit, held in October 2015, brought together representatives from all 54 African Union member states — a scale neither of the previous summits had achieved. India pledged $600 million USD in grants and $10 billion in lines of credit over five years at that meeting.

Commemorative bimetallic rupee issues of this period were produced at the India Government Mint, with circulation strikes distributed through Reserve Bank channels rather than sold directly to collectors.
