Obverse description The obverse is engraved in a dark olive-black ink on cream cotton paper, framed by a fine guilloche border. At centre, a large Royal Arms vignette flanked by two oval cartouches each inscribed TEN RUPEES is set above the principal text block, with the bank title THE ORIENTAL BANK CORPORATION in bold letterpress below. Bilingual denomination legends appear in Sinhala and Tamil script at upper left and upper right respectively, with the place and date line reading HALDAMULLE, CEYLON and the promise-to-pay text in copperplate script, concluded by the authority line By order of the Court of Directors.
