Zusätzliche Informationen

Lala Lajpat Rai died in Lahore on November 17, 1928, roughly three weeks after being beaten by police during a protest against the Simon Commission — a parliamentary body assembled without a single Indian member. The British government never formally acknowledged a causal link between the lathi charge ordered by Superintendent James Scott and Rai's death, a denial that directly accelerated militant nationalist activity and contributed to Bhagat Singh's subsequent assassination of a British officer in retaliation.

The 150th birth anniversary fell in 2015, placing this issue exactly in that commemorative year. KM#439 is one of dozens of Indian commemorative bimetallic tens struck through the 2010s, many with very limited circulation outside official sets.
