The Government of Seychelles issued this note before independence — the islands remained a British Crown Colony until 1976, meaning these circulated under colonial administration throughout the entire issue period. Bradbury Wilkinson, working from their New Malden facility, handled the vast majority of British colonial currency production in this period, and the Seychelles series was a minor but steady commission for them.

Two signatures bracket the run: Norman-Walker served as Governor from 1964 to 1969, and Allen from 1973 to 1976. The 1974-dated notes with Allen's signature were issued just two years before independence rendered the entire Government of Seychelles colonial currency series obsolete.
