| Obverse description | A traditional Maldivian dhow under full sail occupies the right portion of the note, set against a lightly tinted guilloche underprint. To the left, a vignette of tropical foliage and palm fronds fills the centre, with the date in both Hijri and Gregorian calendars inscribed below. Denomination numerals appear at upper left and lower right, with Thaana script legends above and a manuscript-style signature at lower left. |

Bradbury Wilkinson's contract work for smaller island economies in the 1970s and 80s was substantial but rarely discussed — the firm handled currency for dozens of low-volume issuers before its absorption into De La Rue in 1990. The Maldives series of which this note forms part represented an early effort by the newly established Monetary Authority, founded in 1981, to formalize currency issuance that had previously operated under looser arrangements through the Maldives Monetary Board.
Pick 11 is the first 10 Rufiyaa under MMA authority. Watermark-only security was typical of Bradbury Wilkinson's budget-tier contracts at this period.
