Comments

Częstochowa's municipal emergency money was issued in 1915 under German occupation, when the occupying authorities had effectively stripped the local economy of hard currency. Dozens of Polish towns issued their own notgeld-style scrip that year, but Częstochowa's series is notable for being produced by a local printer — Kohn, Odress — rather than routed to any German or Austrian commercial press. That decision kept production close and fast, which mattered in a city that served as a significant logistical node on the German eastern front supply lines.

Paper quality and ink consistency vary considerably across surviving examples, a direct consequence of wartime supply constraints on the printer.
