Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a detailed bust-length portrait of Soviet General Georgy Fyodorovich Zakharov in military uniform, his chest adorned with medals and orders, positioned to the left of centre against a background engraved with a military operational map. The legend '2-і Беларускі фронт. Захараў Г.Ф.' curves along the right rim in Cyrillic script. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine engraving, capturing the subject's likeness with numismatic precision. The map in the background alludes to the Belarusian offensive operation of 1944, known as Operation Bagration.

Aanvullende informatie

Georgy Zakharov (1909–1945) was a Soviet air force general who commanded the 2nd Air Army during some of the most intense aerial operations on the Eastern Front, including the Kursk campaign in 1943. He died in a non-combat plane crash in January 1945, months before the victory he had fought toward. This coin belongs to Belarus's ongoing series honoring Soviet military commanders with direct ties to Belarusian territory, issued in the years surrounding the 65th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War.
