Belarus issued a substantial run of FIFA World Cup commemoratives in the lead-up to Brazil 2014, part of a broader national mint strategy of producing themed silver issues for international collector markets rather than domestic circulation. The National Bank was notably prolific in this period, licensing sports and cultural themes aggressively through the early 2010s.
Color-printed silver issues of this type were struck at the Mint of Poland in Warszawa, which handled much of Belarus's commemorative production during these years under contract.
