The Terek-Daghestan Territory was a short-lived anti-Bolshevik administrative entity in the North Caucasus, formed in late 1918 as Soviet forces and local revolutionary committees fought for control of the region. Its currency-issuing authority lasted only weeks in any practical sense — Bolshevik forces consolidated control of Vladikavkaz before the end of the year, rendering these notes obsolete almost immediately upon issue.
The extreme brevity of the territory's existence means surviving notes are genuinely scarce rather than merely rare by reputation. Many were likely never distributed beyond the issuing office.
