Comments

During the Russian Civil War, the Stavropol Branch of the State Bank issued its own emergency currency when supply lines from Moscow and Petrograd collapsed entirely. Stavropol changed hands multiple times between Bolshevik and White forces in 1918–1919, meaning notes like this one could pass through radically different political authorities within months of issue — sometimes within weeks.

The S520 series encompasses several denominations and signature varieties; the "D" suffix in the Pick reference denotes a specific cashier signature combination, which is the primary means of distinguishing these otherwise similar issues.
