| Aanvullende informatie |
Solikamsk, one of Russia's oldest Ural cities, was the center of the Russian salt trade from the 15th century onward — a monopoly so valuable that the Stroganov merchant family built their enormous fortune there before pivoting to the colonization of Siberia. The 2011 bimetallic rouble series featuring ancient Russian cities was issued under a long-running Bank of Russia program celebrating historical urban centers, and Solikamsk's inclusion reflects its outsized role in pre-Petrine economic history relative to its modest modern profile.
