The 2016 Belarusian redenomination replaced the previous series at a ratio of 10,000 old roubles to 1 new rouble — the country's second redenomination since independence, following the catastrophic inflation of the early 1990s. This note circulates in the series designed by Svetlana Nekrasova and produced through a dual-printer arrangement between De La Rue in London and Goznak in Moscow, an unusual pairing that reflects Belarus's simultaneous western trade relationships and deep institutional ties to Russia.
