Transnistria's commemorative coinage program has produced dozens of issues tied to Soviet anniversaries and imagery, most struck by foreign mints and distributed largely to collectors rather than circulated. This piece marks the 80th anniversary of the 1st All-Union Spartakiade, the mass athletics competition held in Moscow in 1928 as a deliberate Soviet counter-event to the bourgeois Olympic Games — though Soviet sources often cited 1927 as the organizing year.
