| Opmerkingen |
Qatar's Monetary Agency was established in 1973 specifically to transition the country away from the Qatar and Dubai Riyal — a currency it had shared with Dubai under a 1966 agreement that Qatar had outgrown following its 1971 independence. This series, printed by Bradbury Wilkinson at their New Malden works, was among the first batch of notes issued under the new agency's authority.
Bradbury Wilkinson had a long record printing currency for newly independent Gulf states during this period, and the quality of intaglio work on Qatar's early issues reflects that experience. The watermark security on P#3 is relatively minimal by later standards — Qatar's subsequent issues under the Qatar Central Bank added considerably more sophisticated features.
