| Obverse description | At centre, a portrait effigy of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah, the sixteenth Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, faces forward in formal regal attire. Surrounding the portrait is a decorative motif of a 14-cornered umbrella pattern, symbolising the sovereign's protection over Malaysia's fourteen states. The legend 'AL-SULTAN ABDULLAH RI'AYATUDDIN AL-MUSTAFA BILLAH SHAH IBNI ALMARHUM SULTAN HAJI AHMAD SHAH AL-MUSTA'IN BILLAH' is inscribed along the circumference in Latin script. Abdullah of Pahang was elected Yang di-Pertuan Agong by the Conference of Rulers in January 2019, following the unexpected abdication of Muhammad V — the first such abdication in Malaysia's constitutional monarchy history.
