10 Riksdaler Riksmynt

Sveriges Riksbank introduced the Riksdaler Riksmynt as a decimal unit in 1855, replacing the older Riksdaler Riksgälds system. This note belongs to the brief transitional window before Sweden adopted the Krona in 1873 under the Scandinavian Monetary Union agreement — meaning notes of this type were legally superseded almost immediately after the final issue date of this series.

The reverse letterpress impression was the principal security measure of the period, a relatively modest protection by later standards. Counterfeiting of Riksbank notes was not uncommon in mid-nineteenth century Sweden, and the bank's security printing would be substantially upgraded in subsequent Krona-denominated issues.
