10 Rials Revolution

Issued in the immediate aftermath of the Islamic Revolution, this coin replaced the imperial Pahlavi-era 10 rial type with deliberate speed — the new government needed circulating coinage that carried no trace of the Shah. The KM#1243 type was struck beginning in 1979 (SH 1358) and represents the first standardized revolutionary coinage to reach wide circulation, predating the more developed Islamic Republic series that followed in subsequent years.

Iran's mint infrastructure remained under significant strain throughout this period, with technicians and administrators caught between the departing imperial administration and the incoming revolutionary committees.
