| Reverse description | Central device depicting the Imperial Iranian state emblem: a passant lion in profile facing right, holding an upright sword in its right forepaw, set before a radiant rising sun whose rays fan outward across the field. The Imperial Pahlavi crown is placed above the entire group at the top of the inner circle. The ensemble is enclosed within a decorative wreath of oak and laurel branches tied at the base, with the Persian denomination legend 'ده ریال' (Ten Rials) inscribed in the exergue below the lion. A beaded border runs along the coin's rim. |

This series spans the years when Mohammad Reza Shah was consolidating power following the CIA- and MI6-backed coup of 1953 that ousted Prime Minister Mosaddegh. The establishment of Bank Markazi Iran as the sole issuing authority — replacing the British-controlled Imperial Bank of Persia — was itself a direct assertion of monetary independence achieved only after decades of foreign concession pressure. The dual KM references reflect a mid-series composition adjustment that collectors frequently overlook when assembling date runs.
