This issue spans the revolutionary transition and the early years of the Islamic Republic, a period when Iran's mint was navigating profound institutional disruption — the removal of imperial iconography, the purging of staff associated with the Pahlavi regime, and the practical need to keep coinage in circulation during the Iran-Iraq War. The Central Bank continued striking throughout, with little interruption to supply despite everything else collapsing around it.
KM#1235 replaced the Pahlavi-era 10 Rial type almost immediately after the 1979 revolution. Dating follows the Solar Hijri calendar, so coins from this run carry dates ranging from SH1358 to SH1367.
