Opmerkingen

Issued to mark the 40th National Day of Oman in 2010 — commemorating Sultan Qaboos bin Said's accession to power in 1970, when he deposed his father in a palace coup backed by British officers. The commemorative 10 Rial denomination is not trivial; at the time of issue it represented roughly $26, making this a genuinely high-value celebratory note rather than a token gesture.

G&D's Leipzig facility has printed Omani currency across multiple series. The security package here is relatively restrained for a commemorative of this period, with no polymer substrate or optically variable ink — notable given that neighboring Gulf states were already adopting more aggressive anti-counterfeiting measures by 2010.
