| Reverse description | The reverse presents a vignette of the Al Baleed Archaeological Park in Salalah at left, illustrating the ancient ruined city with fine intaglio line work, alongside an architectural vignette of the ornate prayer niche from the Uweyna Mosque in Wadi Bani Khalid at right. Intricate geometric guilloche patterns in warm tones frame the central design field, consistent with the note's Islamic decorative programme. |

Oman's 2020 polymer-cotton hybrid series was a careful hedge — the Central Bank wanted the tactile feel of paper that the Gulf public expects, while gaining the durability and counterfeit resistance that full polymer delivers. De La Rue's Safeguard substrate achieves this by laminating a polymer core between paper layers, a construction that complicated the integration of the windowed security thread but allowed the existing watermark technology to be retained without retooling.
The 10 Rial sits at the upper end of everyday transactional use in Oman, making durability at this denomination commercially significant.
