Bradbury Wilkinson printed this note during a period when Oman's central banking infrastructure was still relatively new — the Central Bank of Oman had only been established in 1974, replacing the Currency Board that had itself only been created in 1972. The country had been issuing its own currency for barely five years when this note was produced.
The Rial Saidi had already been replaced by the Rial Omani in 1973 at par, so this 1977 issue belongs firmly to the post-transition consolidation phase, when the new institution was working to standardize its note series. Bradbury Wilkinson's New Malden facility handled the full production run.
