Obverse description Central field occupied by a three-line Arabic inscription naming the Ottoman sultan Abd al-Aziz Khan, enclosed within a finely detailed wreath of palm fronds tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The wreath terminates at the top with a small floral ornament. The coin's border is defined by a continuous beaded rim. The overall design is purely epigraphic, in the Ottoman-Tunisian tradition, with no portraiture.
