| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the numeral '10' set within a raised diamond-shaped frame, itself surrounded by four oak leaf sprays arranged symmetrically at each corner of the diamond. The circular legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH' arcs across the upper portion of the coin, while 'RENTENPFENNIG' curves along the lower portion, both in bold relief Latin lettering. Small decorative rosettes punctuate the legend at either side. The overall design, attributed to Waldemar Raemisch, presents a clean, geometric aesthetic characteristic of Weimar-era coinage. |

The Rentenmark system, introduced November 1923, was an emergency monetary framework backed fictitiously against agricultural and industrial land — a political fiction that nonetheless worked. The Rentenpfennig subdivisions were struck in aluminium bronze partly because the metal carried no meaningful intrinsic value, insulating the new currency against the commodity speculation that had destroyed the Papiermark. Coins dated 1923 are scarce in practice; production at that year's end was limited, and the bulk of this type entered circulation through 1924.
