| Reverse description | Central device consists of the crowned imperial arms of Brazil: a large oval shield bearing the arms of the House of Braganza, encircled by a decorative wreath composed of coffee and tobacco branches tied at the base, surmounted by the imperial crown. The shield is set within an ornate cartouche, with the wreath extending symmetrically to either side. The circumferential legend IN HOC SIGNO VINCES — 'In this sign you shall conquer' — encircles the design, referencing the Constantinian motto adopted by the Brazilian Empire. The milled border encloses the entire reverse composition. |
