| Obverse description | Within a beaded circle surmounted by a royal crown, the Roman numeral X flanked on either side by floral ornaments denotes the denomination. The date appears within the circle at the base of the design. The surrounding peripheral legend names the issuing sovereign in Latin. The overall composition is characteristic of late 18th-century Portuguese colonial coinage, with the crowned pearl border serving as the primary decorative framing device. |
