Reverse description The reverse displays a large Roman numeral X at the center of the field, denoting the denomination of 10 Réis, enclosed within an open wreath composed of two branches — an olive branch on the left and an oak branch on the right — tied together at the base with a ribbon bow. The circumferential legend PORTUGALIÆ·ET·ALGARBIORUM·REX arcs around the upper portion of the coin, identifying the king as Rex of Portugal and the Algarves. The mint year appears in the lower exergual area between two small decorative crosses. The entire design is framed by a finely executed milled border.
