Reverse description The reverse features a large armillary sphere occupying the central field, rendered in bold relief with clearly delineated meridian and latitude bands as well as a prominent diagonal ecliptic ring — an emblematic device closely associated with the Portuguese Crown and its maritime heritage. No mintmark is present on this issue. The circular legend PECUNIA·TOTUM CIRCUMIT·ORBEM, meaning 'Money Circulates Worldwide,' runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by a plain inner margin. The milled edge of the flan is visible around the entire circumference, consistent with mechanically produced coinage of the Lisbon Mint.
