Obverse description At center, the Roman numeral X denoting the face value of ten réis occupies the field without a date, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. Surmounting the circle is a royal crown with four arches, rendered in low relief. The peripheral legend runs along the outer rim, separated from the inner design by the beaded border. The overall style is characteristic of early 18th-century Portuguese colonial copper coinage, with somewhat crude strike quality typical of the period.
