Reverse description A seated allegorical figure of Justice occupies the central field, facing slightly left, crowned with a star, holding a balance scale in her right hand and a fasces or scepter in her left. She is flanked on either side by palm and laurel branches rising from the lower field, enclosed within a beaded inner border. The date 1855 is inscribed in the lower exergue. The composition reflects the refined neoclassical style typical of engraver Louis-Charles Bouvet and the Paris Mint.
