The Omron rings — a machine-readable anti-counterfeiting pattern developed by Omron Corporation and embedded in the background printing — give this transitional issue its catalog distinction. Most modern photocopiers are programmed to detect the pattern and refuse to reproduce the note, a passive deterrent that operates entirely without user awareness.
This note bridges two governors: Gill Marcus signed until her term ended in November 2014, Lesetja Kganyago thereafter. Both signatures appear within the same Pick number, making signature variety the primary differentiator for collectors working this series.
