| Additional information |
The Blue Crane — South Africa's national bird since 1994 — has appeared on the country's coinage since the late apartheid era, predating the democratic transition by decades. This colourized bullion issue belongs to a series the South African Mint has developed aggressively since the early 2010s, targeting the collector market rather than circulation. The applied color process is done post-strike.
