The P#128 series — colloquially called the "big five" series — was South Africa's last fully paper-based issue before the SARB transitioned to polymer for lower denominations. The 10 Rand carried Tito Mboweni's signature from introduction, with Gill Marcus replacing him after her appointment as Governor in November 2009, creating two distinct signature varieties within a single Pick number.
Paper examples from the later Marcus-signed printings are noticeably harder to find in uncirculated condition; the thinner substrate used toward the end of the series was prone to soiling along the vertical fold.
