Obverse description Dark-red intaglio print on yellow and green guilloche underprint. A portrait vignette of General José María Orellana occupies the left portion of the note, with a vignette of the quetzal bird at right. The overall design is framed by intricate lathe-work borders typical of Waterlow & Sons production of the period.
Obverse lettering BANCO CENTRAL DE GUATEMALA Pagará al portador á la vista en efectivo y á la par DIEZ QUETZALES GUATEMALA Acuerdo de 24 de Diciembre de 1929.
(Translation: Central Bank of Guatemala Pay to Bearer at sight in cash Ten Quetzals According December 24th., 1929.)
Reverse description Printed in dark red, the reverse is dominated by a central landscape vignette of an ornate multi-arched bridge with a mountainous backdrop, enclosed within elaborate guilloche borders. Denomination counters reading "DIEZ" appear in cartouches at the upper left and upper right, while a large numeral "10" rendered in interlaced gothic script occupies a radiate guilloche medallion at the right. The printer's imprint "WATERLOW & SONS LIMITED, LONDON" appears at the bottom margin.
