| Beschrijving keerzijde | A ancient Phoenician galley with a large billowing sail, a horse-head prow, oars along the hull, and a standing figure at the stern occupies the central field, evoking Lebanon's maritime heritage. The denomination '10 PIASTRES' is inscribed in large Latin letters across the upper field, with the numeral '10' prominently displayed to the upper left. A five-pointed star appears to the upper right of the vessel. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE LIBANAISE' curves along the left and lower periphery, and the date '1961' is placed in the lower exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
By 1961, the Banque de Syrie et du Liban was operating on borrowed time as Lebanon's sole currency authority. Syria had already broken from the joint monetary union in 1958 following the formation of the United Arab Republic under Nasser, leaving the bank issuing Lebanese currency only — an awkward institutional fiction that would be resolved when the Banque du Liban assumed authority in 1964. This coin belongs to that three-year twilight period.
