Obverse description Central field occupied by the elaborate Ottoman tughra of Mehmed V, enclosed within a symmetrical wreath of laurel and floral branches tied at the base. Three five-pointed stars are arranged in an arc at the top of the wreath, with the regnal year in Eastern Arabic numerals (١٣٢٧) displayed prominently below the tughra. The mint identifier letter and regnal year number appear above the tughra, while the word 'Misr' (Egypt) in Arabic script is inscribed beneath it. A crossed-quivers mint mark is incorporated within the tughra device, identifying the Heaton Mint, Birmingham.
