Beschrijving voorzijde Central field dominated by the elaborate Ottoman-style toughra of the Mahdist ruler Abdullah ibn Muhammad, rendered in flowing Arabic calligraphy with characteristic vertical strokes and foliate finials rising from the upper portion of the device. Floral and vegetal ornamental elements appear to the right of the toughra. The denomination in Eastern Arabic numerals (١٠) and the Arabic script abbreviation for qirsh (ش) are inscribed below the toughra. The design is contained within a plain inner border, itself surrounded by a toothed or reeded outer rim.
