This series ran across fifteen years and four signature combinations, making it one of the longer-lived designs in Botswana's currency history. The pairing of P.S. Mmusi — who served as Vice President — with multiple successive Bank of Botswana governors reflects the country's constitutional arrangement at the time, under which the Minister of Finance co-signed alongside the Governor rather than a dedicated Treasury official.
F.G. Mogae signed first as Governor, then later appeared on the opposite side of the signature line as Minister of Finance, a progression that tracks his rise to the Vice Presidency and ultimately the Presidency in 1998.
