Obverse description At right, a portrait vignette of John Boyd Dunlop (1840–1921), inventor of the pneumatic tyre, is printed in intaglio over a multicolour guilloche underprint in green, purple and red tones. A line-art vignette of a bicycle at lower left alludes to Dunlop's principal invention, while the Northern Bank logo and denomination numeral "10" occupy the upper register. The promise-to-pay legend and the words "Ten Pounds Sterling" appear in script across the centre of the note.

Reverse description The central vignette presents the pediment of Belfast City Hall in detailed intaglio green, with sculptural figures rendered in relief beneath the classical triangular pediment and the domed rotunda visible to the right. An elaborate geometric guilloche background in pale green, purple and ochre fills the field. The Northern Bank logo appears at upper left, with the denomination numeral "10" and the text "Ten Pounds Sterling" in script at lower centre.
