| Obverse description | At left, an intaglio portrait vignette of Dr. John Garang de Mabior is set within an oval frame, his name inscribed below in black letterpress. The issuer's name "Bank of South Sudan" appears in a dark header band at top, while the promise clause and denomination "Ten South Sudanese Pounds" are superimposed over a large guilloche rosette underprint in teal and ochre tones at centre.
