Aanvullende informatie

The Yale of Beaufort is one of the ten heraldic beasts drawn from the gilded wooden originals carved for Henry VIII's Hampton Court in the 1530s — mythological creatures deployed as much for dynastic propaganda as decoration. The Queen's Beasts series, revived for Elizabeth II's 2016 coronation anniversary, worked through all ten between 2016 and 2021. The Yale, an antelope-like creature with swiveling horns, entered the series relatively late, its heraldic roots traceable directly to Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII and founder of two Cambridge colleges.
