Jersey's 2009 issue continues a long Royal Mint association with the St. George design lineage stretching back to Pistrucci's 1817 sovereign — though this piece originates from a period when Jersey was actively expanding its collector bullion program through licensed partnerships rather than independent commission. The island's monetary authority has no central bank; coin programs of this type are administered directly through the States of Jersey Treasury, which contracted a number of large-format silver issues during the late 2000s aimed squarely at the commemorative market.
