The portrait at the top depicts her youthful bare-headed effigy, while those at the left, right, and bottom represent her progressively mature crowned and diademed effigies; all four busts are applied in gold gilding against the mirrored silver field. The outer legend reads '* HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II * EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY *' around the upper and lateral periphery, with 'TEN POUNDS' inscribed at the base. The rim, as on the obverse, is gilt.
