This issue commemorates the 250th anniversary of Cook's 1770 charting of the Australian eastern coastline — a voyage undertaken aboard HM Bark Endeavour that also carried Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander, whose botanical collections from that journey eventually filled the natural history collections of Europe. Jersey's connection to Cook is indirect at best, a reality that places this squarely in the modern commemorative bullion category rather than any historically rooted territorial issue.
At 155.53 g, the flan corresponds to a five-troy-ounce format favored by the commemorative market since roughly the 2010s.
