| 裏面の説明 | A detailed top-down view of an Avro Lancaster heavy bomber is depicted in the central field, shown in low-level flight over turbulent water, with the distinctive bouncing bomb (Upkeep mine) visible beneath the fuselage. The background suggests a breached dam with cascading floodwaters below the aircraft. The legend OPERATION CHASTISE arcs along the upper periphery, while THE DAMBUSTERS 80TH ANNIVERSARY curves along the lower border, both rendered in bold raised lettering. The composition commemorates the 80th anniversary of the RAF 617 Squadron's daring raid on the Ruhr Valley dams on the night of 16–17 May 1943. |

Operation Chastise — the RAF's May 1943 bouncing-bomb raid on the Ruhr dams — was conducted by 617 Squadron using Barnes Wallis's rotating cylindrical bomb, which had to be released at precisely 60 feet above the reservoir surface and exactly 425 yards from the dam face. Of the 19 Lancasters dispatched, eight were lost. The Möhne and Eder dams were breached; the Sorpe was not.
Pitcairn's involvement is purely commercial — the island administration licenses its name to bullion and commemorative programs, a revenue stream that has funded public services since the 1990s.
