The Charles III issue of the Jane Austen £10 is the same polymer note introduced in 2017, with the monarch's effigy updated following the accession in September 2022. No redesign was undertaken — the changeover was a portrait substitution only, and both versions remain legal tender concurrently. De La Rue has held the Bank of England polymer contract since the switch from paper began with the Churchill fiver in 2016, printing at their Gateshead facility.
Transitional royal issues rarely circulate long before being set aside by collectors, which means worn examples of this particular note may prove harder to source than pristine ones for some years.
