| 正面描述 | Left-facing crowned effigy of King Charles III occupies the left portion of the square field, depicted in bold relief with a crown and draped shoulder. To the right, the legend 'SOUTH ORKNEY ISLANDS' is arranged in three lines in the upper field, with the date '2024' below. The coat of arms of the South Orkney Islands, featuring a shield flanked by a lion and a penguin as supporters and bearing the motto 'RESEARCH AND DISCOVERY' on a scroll at the base, is prominently displayed in the lower right of the field. The engraver's initials 'EB' appear in the lower right corner of the coin. |

The South Orkney Islands have no permanent civilian population and no governmental mint authority of their own — coins issued under this name are struck by private bullion and novelty producers exploiting a legal gray zone in commemorative licensing. The "issuer" designation is nominal at best.
Cryolophosaurus ellioti was excavated from Antarctic rock in 1991, making it the first carnivorous dinosaur formally described from the continent. Its connection to the South Orkney Islands is purely geographic convenience.
